WEBSITE PORTFOLIO

oziz.co.uk

oziz.co.uk

oziz is my personal cyber space. The website currently sports a weblog (currently using Blogger), a collection of my photographs and graphics, a few scripts, links and other pages related to what I'm about.

oziz.co.uk is the second domain name that I ever registered, my first being silvermelon.co.uk. Since silvermelon died, oziz is now really the core of my online presence. There has been many versions as my style has progressed and my abilities have improved. Check out the Wayback Machine (archive.org) to go back and view cached versions of oziz.

designmind.co.uk

designmind.co.uk

As my interest in website development grew, it came to the point where I wanted to work on new projects and offer my skills as a service to others. A friend and myself registered designMind.co.uk and it was set as a portfolio of our work as well as a platform for us to gain projects from clients. The truth is we did not get any real paid work, we were both only 15 or so. However we did use designMind as motivation to come up with new project ideas ourselves and through this we expanded our knowledge and experience.

Today, designMind isn't really very active. Most recently I used it to launch a CMS (content management system) service which I developed in 2004. The idea was to overcome the need to learn code such as HTML and source webhosting in order to have a website. As a CMS, clients were able to run their websites through a user-friendly system through their browser without the need to FTP, code or host files. In the future I will hopefully revive the CMS and bring it up to date with current web-technology and my latest coding and designing abilities.

intheholecs.net

intheholecs.net

Another long-term interest of mine is online gaming. It began with Counter-Strike (1.5+) and this sparked the birth of INTHEHOLE, a Counter-Strike Community, Summer 2004. In fact it began, like many do, as a clan website, but our ambitious streak took it further to a community status. It hosts downloads, tutorials and forums as well as information about our three clans. Like the majority of my websites it has seen many faces. The current version was launched late-summer 2005. It is still being worked on to create a more unique and personalised experience; including user profiles and hosted clan websites.

intheholecs.net is sponsored for web hosting with bandwidth reaching 50GB every month. The community is also sponsored several Counter-strike games servers. The website has been incredibly successful attracting heavy traffic due to its large amount of content and resources. It does take a lot of maintainence to keep it updated and fresh, of which I admit to neglecting at times.

eduX.co.uk

eduX

eduX

eduX is my most recent project which began late summer 2005. eduX is a revolutionary virtual learning environment (VLE). The system can be accessed from any computer connected to the internet allowing students extensive access to their education and teachers the flexibilty to manage courses and support students online. The VLE is fully W3C standard compliant making it accessible across computer platforms and internet browsers, at any time and place. Amongst countless benefits eduX aids organisation and teaching both in the classroom and remotely; promotes independent work and teacher interaction; encourages the use the internet; and improves IT skills.

The stable version has just been released (Feb 2006) and is being used/tested by two departments at my school. With a bit of luck the school will take it on across departments and I will be able to invest in further developments and features. eduX has been the largest project I have worked on so far, with so many hours going mad! Luckily I met James who has helped with the backend coding and its stability.

charlesowen.com

Charles Owen

I was contracted to develop the website for Charles Owen in 2003. The company is based in North Wales and is a large worldwide brand in the equestrian world. The website took several months to complete due to its heavy content, tailored design and my constant learning, especially with PHP and mySQL.

talkgeography.com

talkGeography

talkGeography is a discussion forum enabling students and experts to come together and discuss and learn about Geography. I created it as I am applying to study Geography at university and could not find a discussion website dedicated to Geography. TG has proven to be valuable in filling this gap on the internet. The site receives a relatively large amount of traffic, particularly via searches in Google.

ponyracing.info was developed for Charles Owen (above) in order to set up a central community regarding pony racing which is growing with a rapid pace in the UK.
